Shipping Rules - Custom Zone Shipping Rates
If the winery is working with a 3rd party shipper/compliance company that company should be able to provide us with rates and zones that they would be using.
For example, wineries using Red Hills Compliance would have specific zones set up for the states that the winery will be using Red Hills License to ship. Wineries might have a license to ship to WA, CA, and OR, but for SC and VA they do not. In this case, there would be a custom zone setup for SC and VA and the other states would use the shipping API to get rates such as UPS and FedEx among others.
Custom Zones
This option allows you to create custom shipping rates to manage the shipping rate that your customers are charged. The custom zone shipping rate will have a name and rate that your customer will see. When it is time to ship the order, it can be shipped via any shipping system that is integrated with OrderPort.
The “Shipping Zones” section allows you to create custom or flat shipping rates based on zones. Click on “add new zone” and then you will be able to create zones by adding one or more states. Click on “edit” to update an existing zone. Remember that the cost of shipping can often be a determining factor of whether a customer will follow through with their purchase. Custom zone shipping rates is a tool for you to control the cost of shipping your customers will pay.
After you have created your zones, you will be able to add new shipping types. When you click the “add new” button, a pop-up window will appear, and you will have the option to create a display name and select the shipping method from the dropdown menu. You will be able to edit or delete the shipping types once they have been created. The types that you add should correspond with the shipping type you plan to use.
When setting up zones it is important to know that Volume need to be used for wine products and Pounds needs to be used for all other types of products.
Bulk Upload
To do a bulk upload of shipping rates, you will need to fill out the "custom shipping zone-rate template" that is attached below and send it to Helpdesk@orderport.net. All existing custom zone shipping rates will be deleted when the new file is imported. If you still plan on using these rates please include them in your upload file.
