What is a Webstore Redesign? Why would I need one?

At OrderPort, we offer multiple layouts and levels of customization for your Online Storefront. There are many reasons to consider redesigning your webstore, whether you are in the process of revamping your online presence or if you are dissatisfied with your current design, our eCommerce team is happy to help.

If your webstore was built prior to August 2023, it may be time for an update. Our newest online checkout provides an improved workflow, which streamlines user experience while shopping on the webstore. This new workflow incorporates familiar features that can be found in the most modern eCommerce platforms. To learn more about this update, see below.

What is the difference between a webstore and a website?

All wineries using the OrderPort eCommerce Platform will have both a webstore and a website. Your main website is hosted on your winery's domain, while the webstore is hosted on OrderPort's secure eCommerce servers. At this moment in time, the ability to utilize Orderport’s webstore is reliant on having a fully completed main website. This allows our development team to use the code of the main website to build seamless pages for your storefront, checkout, and member portal. This is the case for all OrderPort webstores, regardless of whether it is a standard or hybrid build.

Redesign Options

Before requesting a webstore redesign, please ensure that all updates and changes to your website have been completed and finalized. This allows for the fastest turnaround and prevents further charges beyond the redesign fee.

The flat rate of the specified redesign type will be charged after the site is completed and deployed. In some cases, additional custom programming may be charged at an hourly rate of $75 with a 1-hour minimum.  We will provide an estimate of any custom programming that is needed and implement it upon approval.

Standard Webstore

  • Orderport creates webstore pages that scrape and match your existing website’s CSS, including fonts, colors, and other branding details.
  • These pages are hosted by Orderport (yourwinerydomain.orderport.net/wines), and updates are requested to the OP webstore specialist
  • The standard webstore is best suited for wineries who might not have their own web designer, or whose websites change infrequently enough that this model is worthwhile.
  • Redesign flat rate - $750

Hybrid Webstore

  • Your web designer will fully build a website for your winery, including individual product detail pages.
  • The Hybrid build places the responsibility of the shop pages onto the web designer, as opposed to the Standard build, where OP develops the shop pages. This responsibility includes creating product detail pages and ‘purchase’ buttons for each product, which will link the product to the OP cart & checkout.
    • All product links are found in the Catalog Manager, under the product’s info & SEO tools.
  • Orderport will host the Cart, Checkout, and Sign-in pages. These pages use fonts, colors, and other branding details to match your existing website.
  • Before beginning production on a hybrid store, we expect a fully complete website, as well as a styling sheet, all font files, and a branding kit (if available).
  • Redesign flat rate - $500

Hybrid Webstore with Catalog API

  • This is the same build as a hybrid webstore, but this model utilizes an API to build your storefront's catalog.
  • Your web designer will use the API to pull products and groups from the Catalog, and they will also use the API to build the user interface that displays those products to users. Once finished, you will provide us with the URL to the website you built so that we can briefly review how the API is being used.
  • Using the API would allow you to implement the following functions:
    • Web cart fine-grained integration
    • Product catalog retrieval / integration
    • Customer search (only searches are allowed – customer records cannot be added, updated, or deleted)
  • If you’re interested in a hybrid store that uses a Catalog API, please send an email to HelpDesk@Orderport.net so that production can be requested from our developers.
  • Please note: this option is a scrupulous process and involves an increased workload for you & your web designer.
  • Hybrid Redesign - $500 flat rate
  • API fee - $9.95 per month

Requesting a Redesign

Once your new site has been completed, please set up a meeting with our Webstore Specialist to discuss your redesign goals. You can set up a meeting here - https://calendly.com/alexis-orderport.

After your meeting, please send an email to HelpDesk@orderport.net with 'Webstore' as the subject line. In that email, please provide the following information:

  • Your preferred redesign type (ex: standard, hybrid, or hybrid w/ API)
  • A link to your current website
  • All font names and all font files, as well as any additional information given by the font supplier (such as keys)
  • Any proprietary logos (including a transparent option if available)
  • CSS / Stylesheets, mockups, or a branding kit for the website (if available)
  • Please note: All customization requests must be specified before development begins.

Once this email is sent, a ticket will be created. This ticket will allow you to track the status of your redesign and communicate directly with the Helpdesk and eCommerce team. During your meeting with Orderport's webstore specialist, you will be provided with a timeline for your unique redesign project.

Webstore Checkout Update

Our newest online checkout provides an improved workflow, which streamlines user experience while shopping on the webstore. This new workflow incorporates familiar features that can be found in the most modern eCommerce platforms. You can preview our new checkout by watching this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA4Vux8ojes

We also offer a free redesign at the same time as the checkout update. This is a great opportunity to give your webstore a fresh coat of paint to match your main website, while also utilizing the most up-to-date version of the online checkout.

If you’d like to update your webstore to the new checkout, here are your two options:

1. Checkout Update Only

  • We will update your webstore’s workflow to accommodate the new checkout. No other changes will be made to the webstore unless specifically requested
  • These new features are available upon request
    • ‘Suggested Products’ carousel based on other customer purchases
    • Age verification popup upon entering the webstore
    • Split payments (with multiple cards, account credits, or gift cards)

2. Checkout Update with Free Redesign

  • We will update your webstore’s workflow to accommodate the new checkout, and we will also redesign the webstore at the same time. If you don’t like your webstore’s design or if you plan to update your main website in the near future, please schedule a meeting with me to discuss the details of the redesign: https://calendly.com/alexis-orderport

All in all, in order to maximize efficiency and go live as soon as possible, it is expected that all changes to your website have been completed prior to redesigning your webstore.
