Processing To-Go Orders in the Point of Sale

To-Go Orders

• OrderPort Five and OrderPort Restaurant feature a To-Go order mechanism for alerting customers. When an order is ready you can send a text message to the customer to let them know.

• You can take payment upfront or when the customer comes to pick up the order.

• Table Numbers and Split by Guest must first be enabled in your Point of Sale Settings. Text Messaging but also be enabled.

Enabling Point of Sale Settings

In OrderPort admin, navigate to the Point of Sale module, then click the Settings tab. Check the boxes next to Table Numbers and Split by Guest. If you have multiple locations, make sure you check the boxes for each location.

Click Save when you are done to update your settings. If you are currently logged into the point of sale app, log out and log back in to ensure the settings are updated.

Enabling Text Messaging

If you want to use the To-Go order messaging tool, first enable the Messaging module in OrderPort admin. This tool is additional to your current plan with OrderPort. You can contact OrderPort Support to have it enabled, and they will let you know how much your monthly fee will be.

Once it is enabled you can navigate to the Configuration tab in the Messaging module and edit your text message as needed. This module can also be used to send Table Ready messages and text receipts

Starting a To-Go Order

To start a To Go Order, navigate to the Order List on the Manage screen. If you have a guest without an account, enter their name along with an email address and phone number. The phone number is required to notify them that the order is ready. Then tap Start. If they are in your system, enter their name and tap Search.

Once the customer’s information is entered, tap the TO GO button, then Apply to start the order.

Creating the Order

You will be redirected to the Shop screen to place items in the cart. Tap each item to place it in the cart. Once the order is ready for the kitchen or waitstaff to assemble, tap Kitchen.

Notifying Staff of the Order

After you tap Kitchen, a window will open so you can send the information to your kitchen or bar printers.

First, choose which printer you want to send the food items to. Tap the printer you want to use, then tap Print. Alternatively, you can tap Print to All. If there are beverage items, you will next send them to your bar printer.

When you have sent all information to staff, click the X to close the window.

Notifying the Customer

Once the order is prepared, tap the ToGo Ready button on the right[1]hand side of the Shop screen. OrderPort will send a text message to the customer’s phone number to let them know that their order is ready.

Once the text message is sent you will receive the Success message on the screen.

Taking Payment

You can take payment when the customer comes to pick up their order, or you can start a tab when the order is made that can be closed at pick up.

If a tab has been started, tap the Shop tab to go back to the Shop screen so that you can send the text message when the order is ready. Once the customer has received their order, you can tap Close Tab to complete the purchase.

To-Go Orders in OrderPort Restaurant

If you are using OrderPort Restaurant, you will find the ToGo Ready button next to the Kitchen button. Tap it to send a text message to the customer letting them know their order is ready.

You can take payment on the Checkout screen by starting a tab when the order is made, or by taking payment when the customer comes to retrieve the order.
