Volume on Master Sales and Excise Tax Return do not match
Why does the Volume on my Master Sales and Excise Tax Return not match? Which is correct?
Both reports are pulling from the same place. However, the Master Sales report does not look at the alcohol level – it simply sums up gallons. Excise Tax Return needs the alcohol level to determine how to categorize gallons and tax amounts.
- The math formula used to calculate the tax amounts is different based on alcohol level.
- If alcohol level is not provided or is set to 0.00, then the report will not consider the product as being Alcohol and it ignores it.
- Alcohol level is setup in the Catalog Manager under the Wine Spec tab when you open the product details.
