What are sales tax rules?
Sales Tax Rules allow the winery to set the sales tax rate that will apply to the shipment. The OrderPort system, by default, charges the sales tax rate for the destination of the shipment. Some states instead require that sales tax be calculated based on the location where the order ships from rather than to where the order is delivered. If you live in a state that requires you to charge the sales tax from the shipping location, then you will add a new rule. You will be prompted to select the state that the order is shipping from, the state where the order is shipping to and whether or not to use the sale location for sales tax calculation.
